Wheeler Bread was founded in 2008 by local baker Nick Wheeler. Nick is a native to Jackson, MN and started baking in college for several different bakeries. Throughout his college education he gained his experience at: Econo Foods of Wahpeton, ND, Breadsmith of Fargo, ND, and Hornbacher's of Fargo, ND. After graduating, Nick tried his hand in several different industries but found his way  back to baking.

Nick started out baking about 20 loaves of bread out of his home for one Farmer's Market in June of 2008. Since then he has expanded his selection of products from five to fifty during the summer of 2009. Thanks to the help of his wife Carrie for support and selling, by the middle of summer he was producing about 1,300 loaves of bread a week out of his house for five Farmer's Markets.

Since the Farmer's Markets are seasonal, Wheeler Bread had to seek out a place to commercially produce their breads year round. With the help of St. Mary's Catholic School in Worthington, MN this was made possible.

Most recently, Wheeler Bread has acquired there own location in Lakefield, MN. The Lakefield Bakery also known as R & J Pastry for the past 35 years has been acquired by Wheeler Bread. The goal is to keep all of the pastries, cookies, donuts, and other specialty items that they produced along with the great lineup of breads from Wheeler Bread.
